Finally women in Poland are able to serve as clergy (but only Protestant denominations)

The Synod of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in the Republic of Poland decided to introduce the ordination of women to priests. It will be possible from 1 January 2022. What does this mean exactly? Monika and Dariusz Zuber, a couple of pastors of the Evangelical Methodist Church, explained. πŸ™πŸ‘©β€β€οΈβ€πŸ’‹β€πŸ‘¨

Marriage of pastors

Monika and Dariusz met in college. It sparked quickly between the two. However, they did not think that fate would lead them to the altar. The man was interested in psychology and the woman in the sociology of religion. After graduating from theology, Darius felt a calling to become a pastor. Determined, he underwent training and exams and that’s how it started. A few years later, Monika decided to take the same path, closely watching how women abroad work in the church. What exactly does the process look like?

First of all, you need to complete theological studies. Then take the so-called trial before ordination to a clergyman. It is connected with work in the parish. It takes about 3 years, this is an introduction to work, you say sermons, you learn to run an administration. This is not only a rehearsal for the church, but also for that person personallyπŸ™πŸ‘©β€β€οΈβ€πŸ’‹β€πŸ‘¨

– explained Monika Zuber.

Women in the church

Currently, in Poland, there are only 9 female pastors in the Evangelical-Augsburg Church. It’s very little. – I decided to take this path because the laity wanted it. At the beginning it was different, there were people who supported me, but I also had people less positively disposed – Monika added.

What is the situation in the Catholic Church? Is it possible for women to appear there in some time?

– The tradition of Protestant churches introduced many things a long time ago. The Roman Catholic Church sometimes introduced similar ideas 500 years later. There is a chance, especially since the experience that follows our tradition shows good consequences of changes. There are more women clergymen in other countries and they fulfill this role excellently, emphasized Monika Zuber.
