Formerly she represented Poland and now she represents the USA
Aleksandra Shelton (formerly Aleksandra Socha) is a six-time Polish sabre fencing champion and a multiple medalist of the world and European championships. She represented Poland in Athens, Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro. In the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, if she qualifies, she will represent the United States squad. 🏆 Why?
It all started in 2018, when Aleksandra announced that she intends to represent the United States. The decision was due to several factors. Aleksandra, after returning from maternity leave, experienced unequal treatment. As she repeatedly said, despite previous arrangements, she was refused physiotherapy and motor preparation training. In addition, she was also unable to train in the USA, where she has been living with her husband for years.
Now thanks to the Lausanne based, Court of Arbitration of Sport’s decision, Aleksandra can think about the fifth Olympics representing the USA.🚦 In December she will be returning to the States to start preperations in order to qualify for the Olympics. ✈
We wish Aleksandra the best of luck!!
