Painting by Szymon Chwalisz

Szymon Chwalisz has been drawing since he was a child. The first works were created in kindergarten, a little later, in middle school, he decided that art would become his way of life.

– My mother asked if I was sure and if I wanted to take it seriously, because how can you make a living from it – recalls Szymon Chwalisz. – I even had an e-mail “poor painter”. The fact that I call myself an “artist” is a lot. Now I have moved towards classical painting and this is the biggest part of my artistic life – adds the artist. 👋🎨

He has many successes on his account. In 2017, under the watchful eye of Guns N’Roses guitarist Slash, he painted the unique Gibson Les Paul, which was auctioned for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity for over PLN 60,000. He designed covers for famous Polish artists, incl. Ursula and the Big Cyc band. He also made a painting series with Sebastian Fabijański. One of the canvases was sold for 15 thousand. zlotys that were donated for charitable purposes. 🎨

Hand-painted cars

The artist does not live by art alone. Automotive is also a great passion of Szymon. Of course, he would not be himself if he had not combined these two passions.

– I remember one of the first exhibitions around 2010 that took place in Poznań – says the painter’s father. – Szymon drove the car which he painted with an airbrush. Waiters from all gardens came running, took pictures, asked who had come with this car. People saw not the works in the gallery but on the street – he adds with a laugh.

The artist himself admits that one of his most important works on the border of art and motorization is painting on the body of Filip Chajzer’s car. The car was donated to be auctioned for the annual WOŚP charity.
