Poland’s Iga Swiatek was a no contest winner of this years French Open

Iga Swiatek at the age of 19, overpowered Sofia Kenin 6-4, 6-1 to win this year’s French Open.
A fantastic performance as Iga (WTA rank: 54) didn’t lose even a set in her quest for this prestigious tournament title. Thank you for lifting the spirit of Poles and in fact all people that appreciate your hard work and success, Iga! 😀

“I don’t know what’s going on, so. I’m so happy. I’m so glad that my family is here finally. I don’t know, it’s so overwhelming for me. It’s crazy. Two years ago, I won a junior Grand Slam and now I’m here. It feels like such a short time so I’m just overwhelmed, but thank you all for cheering. It was an amazing final”.🎾😀

The last time that a teenager won the French Open in 2001 (Kim Clijsters), was the year that Iga was born. Playing as an unseeded player the teenager from Poland didn’t even lose a set in the sprint to the final. She continued with this statistic in the final although there was a moment of uncertainty in the second half of the first set when Sofia Kenin appeared to gain her momentum.🎾😀

We’ll be hearing a lot about Iga in the future. And watching fantastic tennis thanks to her.

And we can be sure that her cat will be watching…….don’t worrry about that IGA! 🐈
