Unique picture frames of siblings from Kaniów. “It is worth taking care of heritage and workshop, because craftsmanship is dying”
Mr. Karol Kóska has been sculpting for 30 years. Although he has no artistic education, he creates amazing things. Its frames tell the life stories of great people. His sister also helps him in the studio by grinding and varnishing the frames in order to earn some extra money for a very low pension.
Siblings from Kaniów
Mr. Karol Kóska and his sister Maria from an early age watched the work of their father, who created his own works in a carpentry workshop. The inherited equipment, a resident of Kaniów, decided to use it for original needlework, which quickly became his passion. 😀❤️
It started with Leonardo da Vinci, then I realizeded Sienkiewicz, Mickiewicz, Szymborska and Olga Tokarczuk- he said.
Mr. Karol had his sister engae in creating decorative frames to help her financially. As he admitted, her pension is currently PLN 230. – You have to spend tens of hours to do such things – said Maria Kóska, Karol Kóska’s sister.
The art of the siblings was appreciated by the curator of the museum in Czechowice-Dziedzice. – These are the things that he thinks up and creates, often sitting in books and albums for hours.❤️👍 Fantastic, because it is done by a man who has no professional background when it comes to art studies – said Jacek Cwetler.
As the specialist admitted, the frames created by Karol live their own lives.
– We can take pictures of Sienkiewicz or Szymborska from the frame, but the symbolism will tell us who it is. This is also one of the reasons why it is worth taking care of its heritage and workshop, because the craft is dying – added Jacek Cwetler.
An artist has only one dream. – I just dream of this museum to keep these old tools, what our grandparents used to do. I want to build a museum of a rural craftsman here – explained Mr. Karol.
